She makes a good supervisor!

Her favorite place to nap when I am at the computer is right at my feet.

First Day of School

The last weekend of June, Arthur and I were able to attend our first home school conference which was hosted by OCEANetwork.  What a blessing!   We were challenged on many levels.

For today, however, the challenge I am referring to is starting our school year early so that we are ahead from the get go.  This allows for "sick days" for Mommy and for Dacia Grace.  It allows for spontaneous field trips and vacation times with Daddy.  So today was our first day of school.

We are using the kindergarten curriculum from My Father's World and really love it.  I am going to attempt to keep the blog updated with all that we are doing throughout the school year.  I have lots of fun things planned for us.

Here are a few pictures from our first day of school. The composition may not be the greatest. The focus may not be the greatest but the memories ah....now they are the greatest!

Working on Day 1 of her Look What God Made in Seven Days book.

Wonder what letter I will find?

"An l!"

We had lots of working on our new book, playing math and letter games.  All too soon our time was done for the day.

Mother's Day 2010

What a special day!  Dacia Grace found a recipe in her Highlights Magazine that she wanted to make for me.  We tweaked the recipe some and renamed the recipe to Sweet Pea's Delicious Goat Cheese Pasta Salad.  It was very yummy!  She and her Daddy did an awesome job blessing me.

Her is the latest picture of her.  She is so grown up here!

Beautiful!

Here is a picture of the yummy lunch I was served.
I will post the recipe over on my other blog.

The wrap was bought from Costco.  :)

Still Mother of the Year

Found this the other day. I have no picture of my mother to accompany this post.  The sentiments are as true today as they were the day that I wrote them. I love you, Mom!

I couldn't find a card for you this Mother's Day.  None of them seemed to say the right things.  So I decided to write you my own Mother's Day card.

To You, Mom with Love

Each year on Mother's Day
A mother is honored for being
The Mother of the Year.
And each year in my heart
You are crowned Mother of the Year.
Many things make up the reason
For crowning you mother of the Year.
Some may be the way you've sat
Beside me to comfort and advise me
In my time of need.
Or it might be the way you
Faithfully get up each school morning
To fix my breakfast and sack lunch
And then send me on my way to school.
There are still other reasons
Like the way you slowly let me go
My own way as I grow older
Even though it hurts you so very much
To let your baby girl grow up
And let her go out on her own
Into the waiting world
There are so many reason
Too numerous to mention
Though they are important too.
Remember that each and every year
You are crowned Mother of the Year to me.
               I love you.

To you with love,
Mom.
From your daughter

Biking

Learning to ride her bike

Here she is after going around the block for the first time

So proud of herself for learning to let go of the handle bars

So proud of her for trying and finally getting it

Off for another ride around the block

For those of you who do not know, Dacia Grace was born with a number of medical challenges. While still in the NICU, the elders of our church came and laid hands on her and anointed her with oil asking the Lord to heal her.  From that day until now we have continually seen God at work in her life healing her day after day.   It was not until this spring/summer that the muscles in her legs were strong enough for her to get the pedals on a regular bike with foot brakes all the way around.  What an exciting day for her!  We are so thankful for the Lord's healing touch on her.  What an amazing God we serve.

Happy Birthday Princess

Two years ago today our precious girl asked Jesus to live in her heart and help her obey Jesus and Mommy and Daddy.
Here she is today on the phone with her Daddy who is singing her Happy Birthday Princess!
We love you little girl and are so proud of the Woman of God that we see you becoming each and every day.
